FORT MYERS FLUORIDE TREATMENT

What is Fluoride?
Every day, you lose and gain minerals from the enamel of your teeth. For example, acids formed from plaque and sugars in the mouth erode the enamel. However, the consumption of food and water naturally adds fluoride and other minerals, but sometimes, not enough.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to the acidity from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth while also reversing early decay. In the Fiddlesticks office, we deliver fluoride as a varnish.
The varnish is painted on the teeth with special attention paid to the back chewing surfaces and stays in place for four to five hours. Eating and drinking water or juice is ok. However, you want to avoid sodas and any kind of chewy (caramel), sticky (cheeses) and hard foods (hard cookies and candy bars). After four to five hours, you can brush teeth to remove the fluoride varnish.
Who is Treated
In children under 6 to 16 years of age can benefit from fluoride treatment. For those less than 6 years old, fluoride embeds in the development of permanent teeth resulting helping to prevent acids from demineralizing the enamel. For those more than six years old, fluoride strengthens tooth enamel and reverses decay.

- Dry mouth condition
- Gum disease
